Story Behind the Paintings

This Summer, we drove down to the Smokey Mountains in Gatlinburg Tennessee for a hiking trip. It was my first time down there, and it was such an amazing experience exploring the mountains. We took a trail called Rainbow Falls, and it was about a 2.7-mile hike to the top. Along the way, I came across a stream with all these fallen trees and large rocks. The scene was so powerful and grand in size, and I just loved all the little waterfalls pouring out of it. It was such an inspiring setting and an awesome piece to paint. I felt this painting really pushed me to hone in on my technique and really find that balance between the looseness of impressionism art, and the details of realism. Overall, I’m super excited for how it turned out, and I hope you too are able to feel a glimpse of the grandness in this piece!
